Zcash Media production house launches with two new mini-documentaries |

Two new videos by Zcash Media, an independent production company funded by the Zcash Major Grants organization, were released this month. The first, Future Money: What is Zcash (ZEC)?, examines how Zcash “tackles the privacy problem in crypto,” and the second reveals that Edward Snowden was one of six participants in the initial Zcash ceremony.

A major step toward NU5, Zcashd 4.7.0 is released |

Release 4.7.0 marks a major milestone on the path to NU5. It enables full support for the Orchard shielded protocol and Unified Addresses on testnet. Unified Addresses can also start being used on mainnet, but funds cannot be sent to an Orchard receiver until NU5 activates on mainnet. |

Halo now licensed under MIT/Apache 2.0, Zcash-Filecoin grant program announced |

A new agreement between the Filecoin Foundation, the organization that facilitates governance of the Filecoin network, and Electric Coin Co. (ECC) makes the Halo 2 codebase available to everyone under an MIT or Apache 2.0 open-source license. There will also be a $9m joint grants pool to fund Zcash-Filecoin development.

ECC kicks off PGP (Pretty Good Policy) breakfast event |

ECC co-hosted a PGP (“Pretty Good Policy”) for Crypto Breakfast in DC with the Blockchain Association and Georgetown University’s Cyber SMART research center. The event will be held monthly going forward, bringing together think tank scholars, academic researchers, and non-profit advocates with crypto industry policy professionals for the purpose of building a stronger crypto policy community.
