ECC exploring Proof of Stake for Zcash
Zcash has relied on Proof of Work (PoW) since launch, but the discussion about moving to Proof of Stake (PoS) has been steadily growing. As Zooko Wilcox wrote in a recent blog post, “The bottom line for me is that switching Zcash from PoW to PoS offers many huge improvements to the utility, security, and decentralization of the Zcash network and to the utility and demand for the ZEC coin.” Here’s a link to Zooko’s post, plus one by ECC CTO Nathan Wilcox:

ECC transitions to user-focused product strategy
From SVP of Growth Josh Swihart: ZEC is at the center of ECC’s mission to empower economic freedom for everyone. It’s the product, and our focus is to improve it. We aren’t the only ones doing this work, but our focus is to help make it better alongside the rest of the community.
We believe a new market-focused approach (as opposed to an engineering-focused approach) will prove incredibly valuable for the ZEC users we seek to serve, the community that we build alongside, and the employees of ECC.
