New Release 4.4.0
zcashd can now be configured to optionally expose an HTTP server that acts as a Prometheus scrape endpoint. The server will respond to GET requests on any request path.

Unified addresses in Zcash explained
UAs make Zcash easier to use by removing the complexity of multiple address types. This simplifies the user experience — no more juggling addresses — and increases interoperability between shielded-only applications and transparent-only applications.

Halo Arc for Zcash proposed for release later this year
NU5 will move Zcash to the Halo proving system, representing the continual evolution of our zk-SNARK technology stack. Unified addresses introduce a future-proof address format that prioritizes shielded adoption.

Industry leaders, pioneers join ECC Scientific Advisory Group
The purpose of the Scientific Advisory Group is to leverage diverse industry expertise to help guide the scientific evolution of the Zcash protocol and to support the mission of ECC.

ECC Transparency Report for Q3 2020
This transparency report details company income, expenses and use of funds during Q3 of 2020. ECC received coins at an average of $761,000 a month and realized approximately $553,000 a month in operating expenses.

Garman joins ECC Board of Directors
Electric Coin Co. is pleased to announce our newest board member, Christina Garman. Garman was one of the seven scientists who invented Zerocash, the protocol that would eventually be called Zcash.

NU5 Proposed Features
Zcash Improvement Proposals (ZIPs) for Network Upgrade 5 (NU5), projected to be August 2021. ECC's proposals for inclusion of the ZIPs outlined here are subject to the outcome of security audits, the results of which will be published as soon as they’ve been completed and reviewed.

New Release 4.3.0
The latest release includes traffic improvements, a reworked library and other updates.

Network Upgrade Pipeline 2.0
Our goal in creating the NUP was to introduce synchronization points for Zcash protocol developers outside of ECC, ensure that future network upgrades continued to meet our historic standards for safety and quality, and allow plenty of time for ecosystem partner testing and integration.

Electric Coin Co. Engineering: 2020, a year in review
We’re fortunate to have some of the most talented engineers and cryptographers in the world on our team, and while 2020 was a challenging year on many fronts, we continued to make tremendous progress in both R&D and engineering, which we feel will benefit Zcash for years to come.

Bringing Halo 2 to Zcash
As the first implementation of Halo within Zcash, this would serve as a catalyst for Zcash user confidence and scalability, while making the protocol more attractive, faster and less expensive for others to build on.

Technical explainer: Halo on Zcash
The Halo 2 zero-knowledge proving system, invented and developed at Electric Coin Co. (ECC), eliminates the trusted setup, reducing the attack surface of the Zcash protocol and improving assurance about ZEC supply integrity.
